To calculate the price of aluminum sheets, we have first to learn something about it. Aluminum sheets refers to rectangular sheet made from aluminium ingots. It includes pure sheet, composite alloy sheet, thin sheet, medium thick sheet and tread plate. Classified by thickness it has five types: thin sheet (0.15 to 2mm), common sheet (2 to 6mm), medium sheet (6 to 25mm), thick sheet (25 to 200mm) and super thick sheet (200mm and above).

Then how to calculate aluminum sheets price? We should be first figure out the sheet’s size, including thickness, width as well as length. Putting these figures into a formula we can get volume of the sheet. Normally in China the measuring unit for the formula is meter rather than mm. Then we get total weight of aluminum sheets we want to buy through another formula: length*width*density(2.7)*quantity. Then we calculate accurate unit price of aluminum sheet for a given alloy number: aluminum ingot price (changeable every day) + processing cost (available on aluminum industry website). Last total price of a given weight of aluminum sheets can be obtained by multiplying unit price with total weight.

Take 500 pieces of aluminum sheet of 90mm thick, 80mm wide and 1200mm long for example. The weight of the sheet should be 0.09*0.08*1.2*2.7*500, which equals 11.664 tons. Let’s assume aluminum ingot price for the day is 12000RMB and processing cost 5000RMB, then the final price should be 198288RMB. The calculating steps are: plus 12000 and 5000 and then multiply the answer with 11.664.
